Microblading

What is microblading?

Microblading is the most natural looking form of eyebrow tattooing done by manually depositing pigment into the second layer of the skin (dermis). The hand tool used allows the artist to create the look of real eyebrow hairs by tattooing very fine hair-like strokes into the skin.

How long does it take to heal?

Your brows will take a total of 6 weeks to completely heal.

Is it painful?

Even though anaesthetic is applied prior to the beginning of the treatment, pain threshold levels differ among individuals. Some clients may experience slight discomfort and a stinging sensation. Be mentally prepared as it is cosmetic tattooing.

How long does it last?

Typically brows last 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Your skin care routine will also affect the longevity of the pigment. Patients who tan, uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid will experience faster fading as your skin cells will regenerate faster. Each individual’s color retention within the skin will vary. To maintain a fresh looking set of brows, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months.

What is The healing process?

The healing process after your microblading procedure varies from client to client, and is based on many factors. This could include but is not limited to, the artist’s technique, pigments used, after-care instructions, whether or not shading was done, and/or simply the individual’s reaction to the procedure. Some of the most common reactions after Microblading include: Tenderness, pink or redness, swelling, thickening and darkening of the area, moderate to thick flaking 3 to 4 days after the procedure. These flakes will come off 5 to 10 days post-treatment – which will leave the pigment color and strokes looking light, grey, and blurry. After the area is fully healed (4 weeks post-treatment) the pigment will return to full color.

Who is not suitable?

Please disclose any medical conditions when making a booking. We may require extra information from your GP to bring along to your consultation.

Oily skin does not hold pigment as well as other skin types. Strokes may not heal as crisp and the client may experience diminished pigment retention. An additional session may be required to perfect your brows. If you have oily skin, Ombré Brows and/or Powdered Brows may be a better option for you.

Women who are pregnant or breast feeding, people who are undergoing or have undergone chemo recently, people who are using Accutane, people with heart conditions or using heart medications, people with diabetes (will require a physician’s note), people with skin disease or irritations, people who have had Botox in the last 2 weeks, people with a deep tan or sunburn or who have had a chemical peel in the last 3 weeks, people who are allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine, along with anyone who has any serious medical conditions may require a physician’s note.

Is the touch up necessary?

100%, it will maximize the permanency – keeping your brows looking fuller for longer.

CAN I GET A TOUCH-UP SOONER THAN 4 WEEKS?

No, you must allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks for the skin to fully heal.

DO MY BROWS NEED TO BE REMOVED/SHAVED PRIOR TO TREATMENT?

Absolutely not, it is desirable to have as many natural hairs as possible to achieve a natural look.

HOW ARE THE COLORS CHOSEN?

Your artist will help you choose a color that is best suited to your brow hair and skin tone in order to achieve the most natural and blended result. We have a large range of pigments, sometimes 2 or more pigments can be mixed to create a unique color for you.

WHAT TYPES OF PIGMENTS DO YOU USE?

We use iron oxide pigments that will fade over time and are naturally absorbed by the skin. Iron oxides are innocuous, harmless and perfectly safe for implantation into your skin.

CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AROUND THEM?

It is not recommended to use any kind of foundation around your brows, the skin should be kept clean for up to 10 days after. Eye makeup is okay

WILL I BE ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK THE NEXT DAY?

Yes, swelling and redness will subside within 24hrs. The color of your brows will be dark for the first few days but will soften.

DOES IT HURT AFTERWARDS?

The area can be a little sore for the first few hours and tender to touch for a couple of days.

IS THERE A RISK OF INFECTION?

There is a minimal risk of infection as strict hygiene standards are maintained. Sterile single use needles from sealed packets are safely disposed of after each client.

ARE SEMI-PERMANENT EYEBROWS DEEMED PERMANENT?

Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, because the face is a very different place for the purposes of tattooing than other parts of the body, fading is to be expected.
